This lounge has been designed as an executive dining space in the heritage precinct of Mumbai's Fort area. Our endeavour was to create a tastefully opulent space that draws from several different Indian crafts and traditions.
The space provided the inherent classicism of tall arches and cast-iron columns all of which was discovered and restored. However, each element introduced has been custom designed, and finally incorporates craft, sometimes in a more contemporary avatar as in, the buffed brass tabletops with leaf cutouts, and the silver-leafed walls. The Banaras fabrics, Gujarat painted motifs, and the Tanjore paintings provided the more crafted Indian idiom, whereas the fibre optic lighting and the contemporary chandeliers exemplify the constant dialectic between the old and the new.
