Their previous home, in an apartment building in South Mumbai, was also designed by us as a colourful ethnic space.  This house, still very earthy and “Indian” in character, is more crafted with exposed brick, set around a small courtyard and minutely detailed with stone inlay work in China mosaic, wooden trusses and ceilings and cast iron columns.  It begins to incorporate contemporary details, but retains all the elements of an old Indian house – the jhoolas, the jharokhas, the courtyard and the patio – all duly contemporarised.
